The Inspiration feed on komoot and the content it shows
Created by users, by official sources, or with the help of a smart algorithm, when a user opens komoot, the inspiring home feed is what they see first. This is where they see adventures from their region, created by other community members or brand partners of komoot. Learn more about the different types of content and what makes them special.
The content types in the home feed
When you open the komoot app or desktop site, the first thing you see is your personal home feed, providing you with inspiration for your next outdoor adventure. There are three different types of content:
- Content from profiles you follow
- Editorial and Sponsored Collections with high-quality information
- Tours based on an intelligent algorithm
Every community member can interact with this content on komoot. For instance, if you like a route, you can tap the heart icon. If you would like to talk about a Tour or Collection with others, you can do so in the comments using the mentions (@) feature to tag individual users.
You can also easily save Collections you like the look of and go back to them later. Simply click the “Save” button and the content will be added to the “Collections” section in your personal profile.
The result: The more you interact with the content, the better the home feed will be tailored to your personal interests. This means that every feed is based on the user’s individual behavior as well as on their preferred sports and locations.
Content from profiles you follow
On komoot, every user can follow friends, family members, and inspiring personalities, as well as tourism organizations and brands. This makes it easy to keep up to date with your loved ones’ adventures and on the outdoor content regions and brands are sharing.
If you follow an account on komoot, you will be notified as soon as new content is published on that profile.
Editorial content about a certain region or topic

Making use of intelligence for automated recommendations
In addition to user-generated and editorial content, you can also find auto-generated inspiration on komoot. This content makes complex information easily accessible and presents it in an inspiring manner, taking into account the user’s favorite activities and location.
These auto-generated recommendations are based on OpenStreetMap (OSM), a kind of Wikipedia for map data, as well as on information from the komoot community. We use objective information from OSM (such as trail rules or conditions) and combine highly frequented routes with subjective user Highlights, preferably with bus or train stations, or public car parks as a Tour’s start and end points.
Highlight Collections with weekend tips
Collections with weekend tips consist of Highlights that have been positively rated by other outdoor enthusiasts. For a Collection to appear in a user’s feed, it must align with their favorite sports and be in their region.
We also remind users to behave responsibly during their activities and to adhere to local regulations.
