The first ever komoot Partner Adventure

On 7 March 2023, the first ever komoot Partner Adventure took place in an extraordinary setting. Participants were granted fascinating insights into influencer campaigns on komoot. The speaker panel consisted of Kathrin Heckmann aka “Fräulein Draußen” and Iris Wermescher, Business Development Director at komoot. The topic: a creative campaign idea by Saarland Tourism on komoot that wowed the community.

A special business event at Berlin’s Teufelsberg

A select group of participants from the field of tourism, an inspiring topic and a thrilling location: Those were the ingredients for the first komoot Partner Adventure. Instead of attending an ordinary dinner, participants were taken from the exhibition centre premises to the deserted Teufelsberg (“Devil’s mountain”) at Grunewald nature reserve by shuttle bus. In times of the Iron Curtain, the building on the rubble mountain was used as a listening station. Today, the graffiti-adorned premises are only accessible as part of a guided tour. In short: an extraordinary location steeped in history.

In this special setting, participants were treated to the following:

  • a talk with Fräulein Draußen, snacks and drinks
  • an exploration of Teufelsberg with subsequent sunset drinks

Community first

In her talk with Iris, she presented fascinating facts on content creation, community building and community management. In addition, she shared her knowledge on embedding outdoor content created on komoot in other digital communication channels and print materials.

The nature lover makes use of these synergies herself and is known to link to the detailed tour descriptions on komoot in her blog posts, giving her followers the chance to dive right into their own adventures.

Influencer marketing on the komoot platform

To show how successful komoot collaborations between influencers and tourism organisations can be, the results of a campaign with Kathrin and Saarland Tourism were presented. Kathrin published the Saarland Circuit, a varied gravel bike tour, on komoot as a shared activity with the tourism organisation.

In addition, the tour was promoted as a sponsored collection — with great success. The four-week promotion with sponsored collections achieved almost 470,000 views and more than 7,000 clicks.

What our partner is saying

Klaus Wallach of Saarland Tourism also values the opportunities provided by komoot. He is responsible for project coordination and topic management at Saarland Tourism and makes use of influencer collaborations:

“The most important thing for me about the development of outdoor products is that they are tailored to the needs of the target group. Working with influencers allows me to test new concepts. Plus, it creates authentic content that I can use for promotion with the community.”

Great feedback for the komoot Partner Adventure

After the talk session and a subsequent Q&A, the participants went on a guided tour of exploration around the Teufelsberg premises. For many of them, the sunset drinks from the top of a building with views across Berlin were the highlight of the adventure. Afterwards, the shuttle bus took everybody back to the exhibition centre premises. Following the event, guests were handed a questionnaire to give their feedback on the komoot Partner Adventure.

The result: The event went down a right storm. In addition to the fascinating insights, it was mostly the stunning location that made the event truly memorable.

Our conclusion

The regular exchange with partners is important and received very well. And when our communication happens in an exciting environment, in front of a thrilled crowd, our mission of making great outdoor adventures accessible for everyone becomes reality.

One thing’s for sure: This certainly wasn’t the last komoot Partner Adventure!
